About the demo
The demo needs no login. Opening the app in a browser gives that browser its own private copy of the sample data, which you can change freely and which lasts about 4 hours. Other visitors cannot see your changes. Automated visitors, and anyone without a copy, see a shared read-only version.
Ideas
Collect the options for a renovation in one place: each idea can have photos, a description, an estimated cost and the products you are considering.
Ideas can be scored, filtered by room and linked to the tasks they belong to.
Decisions and ratings
A decision narrows several ideas, such as three tiles, to one choice with the people on the project.
Each person rates the options from 1 to 10. RenoVote sets aside the options that scored clearly lowest, shows where people agree, and keeps a record of what was decided.
Budget and costs
Compare what each phase was expected to cost with what was actually spent. The page shows total estimated, total actual, and whether you are under or over budget.
Costs are recorded against a task and can be linked to a vendor. A task done by the owner themselves can note its estimated DIY savings.
Projects and phases
A project is one renovation at an address. Phases are its stages, such as demolition, rough-in and finish, each with dates, a budget and a status.
Phase progress follows the status of the tasks inside it.
Tasks
Tasks are the individual jobs inside a phase. Each has a status (pending, in progress or completed), dates, the rooms it covers and its costs.
Photos can be marked as before or after, which is what a public showcase is built from.
Purchases
Follow each product from considering through chosen, ordered and delivered to installed.
When a product has a lead time and its idea is on a task with a start date, the page shows the latest day to order it so it arrives before the work starts.
Vendors
Keep contractors and suppliers in one list with their contact details, notes and the total paid to each.
Costs can be linked to a vendor, and the budget can be filtered by vendor.
Floorplan
Upload a drawing of the property and mark named rooms on it. Click a room to filter ideas by that room.
Public showcase
A project can be published as a public page that tells the story of the renovation. The owner chooses what visitors see, such as phases, tasks, ideas, budget, vendors and floorplan. Visitors can read and look, but not edit.
Nothing is public until the owner publishes it. The sample renovations below are published this way.

Sample renovations
- Cedar Lane Primary Bathroom: Turning a cramped 1960s bath into a bright walk-in shower and a floating vanity. The plan is set and ordered, the old tub is out, and the plumbing is being moved before tile goes in.
- Maple Street Kitchen Remodel: A full kitchen remodel in a 1950s house: DIY demolition, new oak cabinets, quartz countertops and handmade tile. Demolition and cabinets are done, and the countertops and backsplash are going in now.
